Army and Navy Cocktail Recipe
After sampling many different Army and Navy recipes and ratios, this was my personal favourite. A balance of botanicals from the dry gin, citrus and almond notes. I preferred the single dash of aromatic bitters to compliment the drink rather than overtaking the other ingredients. This particular recipe's ratio is 8:3:2. Watch the video below for a comparison between the recipes.
The original recipe utilises measurements of 60mL Gin, 30mL Lemon Juice and 30mL Orgeat which really results in a sub par drink (8:4:4 ratio).
David Embury's recipe from his 1948 cocktail book, Fine Art of Mixing Drinks, calls for 60mL Gin and only 15mL Lemon Juice and 7.5mL Orgeat (8:2:1 ratio) for a strong, gin-forward version.
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients into your cocktail shaker
- Shake with ice
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass
