The well-known Glencairn whisky glass will enable him to savour the taste and complexity of a fine Single Malt Whisky, Irish Whiskey or a single barrel bourbon. The tapered mouth on the Glencairn whisky glass will enable him to pick up the nuances that each whisky has to offer. One glass not enough!? The German made crystal glassware brand, Spiegelau, has compiled a 12-piece high-end, cocktail focussed glassware set that oozes class.
COCKTAIL BOOKS AND EQUIPMENT
Is your Dad more of a cocktail man? Does he like concocting and mixing his own creations at home? The Bar Book by Jeffery Morgenthaler is by far, the best cocktail book to introduce him to the world of cocktails – full of techniques, tips and cocktail recipes that will make him proficient in mixing drinks. On the other hand, the PDT cocktail book written by Jim Meehan has an abundance of cocktails recipes and is also authored by the owner/manager of one of the world’s best bars and it is ideal if he already has some basic knowledge of mixing cocktails. If he’s a die-hard Old Fashioned fan then the Old Fashioned Gift Set cannot be surpassed – the book authored by Robert Simonson explores the history of the Old Fashioned and 50+ classic variations on this infamous drink.
Need something small to fill your Father’s Day gift basket? Ice cube moulds! Every man needs a cold drink. Tovolo are well known for their superior quality ice moulds with a choice of spheres, king cubes and perfect cubes – perfect for whiskey, cocktails or his favourite softie. If you really want to treat him, surprise him with crystal clear ice spheres that look so transparent he’ll think they’re made of glass!
A Father’s Day gift guide wouldn’t be complete without….. BEER! One of our favourites has hit the list, Young Henrys Newtowner which is a super tasty Australian Pale Ale made using three varieties of local hops to make it fun, fruity with a subtle bitterness. Two more risk-free booze options? A bottle of Australian gin from the producers Four Pillars or a bottle of outrageously delicious cold brewed Mr Black Coffee Liqueur.
Left it to the last minute for poor old Dad? If he’s located in Sydney or Melbourne then you can use the Jimmy Brings service for 30 minute delivery of his favourite bottle of whisky or red wine. Cocktail Kit also has an express delivery option – for most major cities this is next day delivery – just make sure you order before 2pm.
(Disclaimer: Cocktail Kit is my retail website so naturally I’m a little biased in a couple of my recommendations!)
