Classic Champagne Cocktail
The Champagne Cocktail is one of the oldest cocktails, dating back to atleast the mid-1800s. The recipe is simple. A sugar cube soaked in aromatic bitters and Champagne. Of course the recipe has evolved ever so slightly and some like to add 10ml of Cognac or, my preference, Grand Marnier. It is one of the most well known Champagne cocktails. It's simple and elegant.
Ingredients
- 90 mL Champagne
- 10 mL Cognac or Grand Marnier (optional)
- 1 Sugar Cube
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Instructions
- Place the sugar cube in a champagne flute
- Soak the sugar cube in bitters
- Optionall, add Cognac (or Grand Marnier) to the glass
- Gently pour chilled champagne
- Garnish with twist of lemon
