Devil’s Soul Cocktail Recipe

Gary Regan first published Ted Kilgore’s Devil’s Soul cocktail in his book, 101 Best New Cocktails 2012. It’s truly an unusual mix of ingredients with spicy rye whiskey, smoky mezcal, 2 amaros and a floral elderflower liquer – but strangely, it works.

Ingredients
  

  • 45 ml Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey 1.5 oz
  • 15 ml Sombra Mezcal 0.5 oz
  • 15 ml Averna Amaro 0.5 oz
  • 7.5 ml Aperol 0.25 oz
  • 7.5 ml St Germain Elderflower Liqueur 0.25 oz
  • Flamed orange zest

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients into your mixing glass
  • Stir for 30-45 seconds
  • Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  • Flame an orange zest into the drink
  • Garnish with orange
