Eggnog (for Groups)

This eggnog recipe is the result of years of testing and refinement by Jeffrey Morgenthaler. It's a classic style eggnog recipe similar to Jerry Thomas' recipe that featured in his Bartenders Guide. Both calling for brandy and spiced rum. The key difference is the technique used to make the nog. Jerry's single served eggnog calls for shaking the eggnog which in turn adds dilution whilst Jeffrey's batched recipe is made with a blender or mixer and refrigerated ahead of time resulting in a rich, creamy and flavourful eggnog.

  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 75 g Superfine / Caster Sugar
  • 180 ml Whole Milk
  • 120 ml Heavy Cream
  • 60 ml Brandy
  • 60 ml Spiced Rum, Sailor Jerry's


  • Blend the eggs on medium for 1 minute
  • Slowly add the sugar and blend for a further 1 minutes
  • Add the remaining ingredients and incorporate
  • Transfer to a sterilised bottled and refrigerate
  • Pour into a chilled glass to serve
  • Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg
