Blanco tequila's earthy agave notes are paired with Liber & Co.’s blood orange cordial and the bitter bite of Campari. Fresh lime juice brings acidity and balance, while a touch of salt brings it back to margarita territory, resulting in a familiar yet unique Halloween libation.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine all the ingredients
- Shake with ice for 10-12 seconds
- Strain into a glass over ice
- Garnish with a wheel of blood orange and a sprig of mint
Creating your own cocktails On closer inspection you may notice that this blood orange cocktail has a striking resemblance to a margarita, and you would be right! It was created using a very simple technique called Mr. Potato Head. The term Mr. Potato Head is used when substituting an ingredient or multiple ingredients into a cocktail template. A simple substitution or two in a cocktail can result in an entirely different drink and it is a common practice for creating new drinks. Try using this technique with some of your favourite cocktails, substituting the spirit, juice, bitters, and/or modifiers to create your own signature drink. This is one of numerous methods for creating your own cocktails that are featured in Steve the Bartender’s Cocktail Guide.
