
Smoky Hazelnut Bourbon Sour
The hazelnut notes take a backseat in this cocktail whilst the citrus and smokiness are the more prominent flavours. I tried two versions - one with egg white and one without - with egg white is definitely the preferred of the two, adding texture and a pleasant mouth feel to the cocktail.
Ingredients
- 60 mL Bourbon Whiskey
- 15 mL Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur
- 22.5 mL Fresh Lemon Juice
- 15 mL Simple Syrup
- 2 Dashes of Peychaud's Bitters
- Mist of Islay Whisky
- Egg White optional - see video
Instructions
- Combine the bourbon, Frangelico, lemon juice and simple syrup to your cocktail shaker
- Shake with ice
- Strain over fresh ice
- Finish with the Peychaud's and Islay whisky
