How to make a Treacle
The Treacle is a twist on an Old Fashioned first created by Dick Bradsell. The Treacle is nothing more than a rum Old Fashioned with a float of pressed apple juice.
Traditionally a Treacle is made using a dark rum whilst our video below we opted for the addition of a spiced rum and Regans No. 6 Orange Bitters.
Ingredients
- 60 mL Dark Rum such as Chairmans Reserve
- Sugar Cube
- 2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
- 15 mL Fresh Pressed Apple Juice
Instructions
- Add a sugar cube to a mixing glass
- Soak sugar cube in bitters
- Muddle sugar if needed
- Add dark rum
- Fill mixing glass with ice
- Stir (approx. 20 secs)
- Strain over fresh ice into an old fashioned glass
- Garnish with a citrus rose or apple fan
